How to Locate your lost Android device?
How to Locate your lost Android device?
Most of us, if not all, have had at least one occasion when we have “simply” forgotten our mobile phones – either in a taxi or at a restaurant, or even before we left our homes. God bless your memory if you don’t count yourself as one of those, but then you never know.
The new Device Manager by Android is a feature that keeps your device and the data in it safe and secure.
Here’s how.
1. Locate your misplaced device
If your phone is within earshot yet you are unable to locate it (for all you know, it’s your friend’s prank!), all you can do now is ring it and you’ll be able to hear it at maximum volume – even if it has been silenced. Now *that* is technology.
What happens if your phone was forgotten at the party last night? Or you simply forgot in in a washroom somewhere? What you can do to locate your precious device is locate it in real time on a map! And then of course, rush to fetch it from wherever it is!
2. Protect your data
Here’s the worst case scenario. You lose your phone, and are now worrying about the data falling in the wrong hands. With the Android Device Manager, you can quickly and securely erase all the data on your device, and reduce your woes by a good fifty per cent.
3. Getting started
You can avail of the services of the Android Device Manager on devices running Android 2.2 or higher. You will be required to sign in with your Google account. There will be an app to help keep track of your phone, but that’s sometime in the near future. Watch this space!
For now, once of the best things you could do to keep your data safe, is take a back up of all your contacts, texts, images, music and photos using excellent back up feature
