Hair Types in The World
Hair Types
Hair is a continuation of cornified skin, consisting of a keratin fibre comprising of a root and a stem, formed by the follicle in the dermis which determines if the hair will thin or fine. Genetics is the science that determines the type and texture of our hair, but external influences have an important role in determining the appearance and touch. Hair varies in different stages of our life, in adolescence due to hormonal changes, if we take drugs, we suffer stress or lack of certain nutrients in our body, as well as a lousy mood of course, and hair is a good indicator of our overall health.
A good hairdresser will know every hair type each of their customers have and what styling products should be used for each individual, an easy test to see if your hair is fine, medium or course, is tearing hair and trying to break it, if it breaks easily, its texture is fine, if you need some effort to break it, is likely to be of medium texture, and if you find it very difficult, is thick. Being able to determine the hair type helps us understand what kind of products to use and what to keep in mind for the changing seasons, taking into account its moisture content. For example, in the winter when the wind is blowing, with the central heating on in doors and cold bighting temperatures outside can dry out our hair, so to combat this use moisturising shampoos and conditioners , In the summer, if exposed to high humid conditions, choose a mild shampoo and conditioner.
So, how many types of hair there? Seven to be precise, from Normal to Dry, let’s take a look at them:
Normal Hair
This is the kind of hair everyone would like to have (especially me as I am follically challenged), as it is aesthetically pleasing and generally looks great, almost like virgin hair, no breaks and very bright like that of children’s hair, it does however require a lot of care to maintain the fibre.
Dry Hair
This dried, dehydrated hair becomes brittle as a result of the lack of oils. Dry hair has roughly half the elasticity of normal hair, it usually dry due to strong aggressive chemical treatments to adverse environmental conditions, UV-rays, sea water, chlorine and even careless treatment. You have to use a good moisturising shampoo and massage it into your scalp to activate blood circulation and thus help the oils to reach the full length of the hair.
Curly Hair
Curly hair can look fantastic, provided it is well maintained. Your natural tendency is to offer a matte and devitalised look because the cuticles are not flat, and can be dry and difficult to manage, often to form a curled indomitable. To maintain curly hair you must use a moisturising shampoo and conditioner, alternating with different shampoos every sixth wash, since the hair gets used to certain ingredients. You have to let it dry naturally wherever possible or, if you use a blow dryer with a diffuser never brush or comb otherwise you curls will become curlier, best to brush by just using your fingers.
Subtypes of curly hair
1.Medium amount of curl, from bouncy ringlets to tight corkscrews.
Circumference: Sharpie size
2.Curls are naturally big, loose and usually very shiny.

Fine Hair
Fine hair can be difficult to master and requires greater care. It should be washed frequently with mild shampoos to keep it from becoming oily and limp. It's best to use a no-rinse conditioner so that the hair does not become matted and lose volume. Dyeing your hair can make it look thicker, because the chemical process causes the reed to swell.
Afro Hair
Afro hair is often coarse and dry, which makes it prone to breakage and damage, for this type of hair care, intensive treatments used before washing to help moisturise the scalp and hair, the head is massaged regularly to stimulate oil production and wash when necessary, with one application of shampoo. It is advisable to take a hot oil treatment once a month. For maintenance aerosols can use triggers and special moisturising curly hair. Another option is afro hair straightening, reverse chemical process of permanent chemical straighteners which are sold with different intensities, to suit the different textures and styles.
Oily Hair
When the sebaceous glands produce excess oil, hair, cakes and turns straight, this being the case the hair should be washed frequently with a mild shampoo, more aggressive formulas will leave the hair naked, thus stimulating the activity of the sebaceous glands, dyes can also help, since they alter the porosity of the hair. If your hair is oily, dietitians recommend avoiding fried and processed foods and suggest that you eat plenty of fruit and vegetables.
Dyed Hair
Applying hair color can improve the texture and overall appearance, but submitted to excessive chemical processes alter the Ph balance and often will become dry, brittle and prone to deterioration and breakage, when choosing dyes; you must choose ones that condition and always use special shampoo and conditioner for colored hair. These products help repair and help set the color.
Wavy Hair
The wave or curl forms throughout the hair in the shape of the letter “S”
Type 2 hair sticks close to the head; it won’t bounce up, even when layered.
There are three subtypes:
1.Thick and coarse and more resistant to styling and will frizz easily
2.Medium-textured and a little resistant to styling; has a tendency to frizz
3.Fine, thin and very easy to handle; easily straightened or curled
Tips:
- Use lighter products such as mousses or gels that enhance curls, but don’t weigh them down
- Use duckbill clips on the crown of your head to lift top curls
- Let hair air dry or use a diffuser
- Once your curls are dry, rub a little pomade into the palm of your hands and smooth over your hair gently
